About Calories
Fact: 3500 calories = 1 lb. of body fat
What Is a Calorie?
A calorie is a unit of energy. Calories come through the foods we eat. We burn calories through normal body functions and exercise.
It’s a Balancing Act
Your body weight stays the same when the amount of calories you eat equals the amount of calories that you burn—in other words when calories in = calories out. In order to lose weight you must burn more calories than you consume.
